"What is the ultimate thing the Holy Spirit can do for us?" is the question.

Since the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, and thus God, and nothing is impossible for God... it seems obvious the "ultimate" COULD be anything an individual considers the "ultimate" to be.

I personally believe the "ultimate" for us to be...

When hearing about and listening to God's Word, by the power of the Holy Spirit one will find Truth, be convicted of sin, the need to repent, and will turn their earthly life over to Christ, and be born into Eternal Life. The Holy Spirit then indwells, to lead, guide, comfort, admonish, instruct, and strengthen one in the ways of God, and away from things of the "world". I believe there is nothing one could want that is more ultimate than this.

I also believe the Christian question to be...
"What is the ultimate thing the Holy Spirit can do WITH us?

I believe the answer to that is... to allow and surrender ourselves to be used by God to bring His Word and Light to others by living as Christ lived in loving, helping, and forgiving others. Therefore, bringing Glory and Honor to God, and leading lost souls to Christ, salvation, and Eternal Life.

Putting God first in all things, and others before ourselves, would be absolutely impossible without the power and strength of the Holy Spirit and, in my personal opinion, should be the absolute "ultimate" for a true Christ follower.

In addition to these great answers, I thank God for the sealing and keeping power of the Holy Spirit. Not only in this life but to the grave and beyond.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 "Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts."

Ephesians 1:13-14 "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory."

Ephesians 4:30 "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption."

Matthew 28:20 "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

The ultimate 'thing' that the Holy Spirit does for us is take up residence in us and become our very life.

The reason we're called 'born again' is because there is a new spirit in us, God's own spirit. He is the reason we, who have rested our faith in Christ, pass from death to life - we were born spiritually dead and the only way to make a dead person alive again is to put a new spirit in them.
