It's natural to feel anxious about doing something personal in front of a lot of people. However it might be helpful to remember that responding to an altar call is different to responding to God. You can respond to God in the privacy of your own room. It's just between you and God. You won't find altar calls in the bible... They are a modern invention. So don't worry about them. You don't have to respond to an altar call to be a Christian. But you do have to respond to God... And you can do that in private. Regards Philip
If you are being led by the Holy Spirit to respond to an alter call, then just open your heart and allow the Holy Spirit to do it's work. If you feel you need to respond to the alter call that is the Holy Spirit. Trust in Him and you will not even be aware of the crowd around you. The Holy Spirit is strong in you and you can answer His call, Blessed is he who hears the calling of the Holy Spirit. Let Him lead you and you will never be the same again. The Holy Spirit is strong and wants you to or He wouldn't be calling/urging you to answer His calling. God Bless. I pray for your strength to follow your heart (Holy Spirit) and answer that calling. Amen.
I totally agree that you are feeling the pull of the Holy Spirit. Fear of the unknown combined with the whispering from the enemy of our soul keep many from listening to this urging. However, if we keep in mind that the ground at the Cross of Jesus is level; meaning there are no big I's and little you's, no person is there to judge you regardless of what you are being whispered. Jesus awaits you. Who would not want to run into the Arms of Jesus? I pray that the next service you attend, where the Father is calling you by the Holy Spirit that you run into the Arms of Jesus and receive the greatest blessing this side of all Eternity! His Life, His Love, His Light flooding your heart, soul, mind and body. Be Blessed, Lena
Love cast out fear (1 John 4:18). The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the LORD shall be safe. (Prov. 29:25) To partake of God's peace, joy and rest by accepting His son Jesus Christ, the lamb of God for your sins and receive everlasting life can take place any time any where. You do not need an "alter call" to begin a personal relationship with your creator who loves you and died for you to make it possible. Rom. 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Acts 16:31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved,...” Rev. 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Matt. 11:28-30 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
The fear of what others think is what many times holds us back from the blessings that will take those fears away. One way you can look at it is that of all those watching 99 percent are cheering you on. Many of them are so happy for you because they know the joy you will receive, and some are getting courage from watching you because they so desperately want to be able to do the very same thing. You can be their encouragement. The most important thing is that God is pulling at your heartstrings to do this, because He loves you so much, and wants you closer to Him, that He may bless you more abundantly. When you feel the urge to go up there, that is Him asking you to, and when we are immediately obedient to His call, we give Him joy. I don't know you, however I have been where you are, and I am one of the ones cheering you on! Peace and Blessings
