Doubt is an experience common to all people. Even those with faith in God struggle with doubt on occasion and say with the man in Mark 9, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!" (verse 24). S...

Faith comes by hearing the word of God. Read more, then you will believe more, then your doubts will lessen.

"Give me the benefit of your convictions, if you have any; but keep your doubts to yourself, for I have enough of my own." -- Goethe

The term, DOUBT, is found only about 20 times in the Bible, translates nevertheless about 10 different Hebrew and Greek originals with a corresponding variety of meanings.

Few things impact a person’s life more than their perception of God. Even in the book of Genesis, we can see the tragic consequences of doubting God’s goodness. Paradise was replaced with thorns and thistles when faith gave way to doubt (Gen. 3:1-5; 22-24).

Doubt’s greatest enemy is faith. To the degree that one thrives, the other withers. Rather than attempting to uproot the weeds of doubt in your heart, plant seeds of faith by saturating your mind with Scripture. After all, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Rom. 10:17). As you fill your head and heart with truth, ask God to help you believe it (Mark 9:24).

Doubt is something that is advised against as being not of faith. James says that anyone who doubts or is double minded won’t receive anything from the Lord. And without faith it is impossible to please God.

The Bible states that people need to believe they receive before they receive. (Mark 11:22-24). Additionally, forgiveness is a condition of prayer. If someone has faith but yet holds unforgiveness in their heart, their prayers will not be answered. If someone says that they will believe it when they see it, this too is doubt. And unbelief.

All throughout the gospels, Jesus rebuked the disciples for their lack of faith. Jesus said to Thomas, blessed are those which have not seen, yet have believed. Without believing Jesus as the way, the truth and the life, the Son of God then one cannot receive eternal life.
