How should we be praying for our President?

In my opinion, our current President is corrupt and ungodly. What are the best ways to pray for such a person?

1 Timothy 2:1 - 3

NKJV - 1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men. 2 For kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

Great question, and an issue of obedience that i have found more challenging now than ever. To obey the biblical mandate to honor dishonorable leaders and pray for them requires great humility. Ironically, the lack of humility exhibited by our current leader may be at the root of all his character flaws, and yet my quickness to judge and reticence to pray for him exposes my own similarity, especially as a born-again believer who should know better. God help us, and God help him.

A great question in this time of epidemic confusion and I humbly submit a few thoughts for your consideration. With all the noise one hears or reads these days, it indeed would be very easy, maybe too easy? Laying all the worldly woes at the feet of one man, with some almost reaching the speed of light to assign their blame. (Isaiah 8:12; Proverbs 18:13; Luke 8:10; Luke 8:18)

Pray that God's will be done in all things, even if you do not support them friend........

God keeps time or works in a seven year cycle with seven times this seven year cycle, totalling a forty nine year period. Which He marks or is ended at fifty years with a special celebration; a Jubilee year. Okay so why is this important to me today you may ask? (Leviticus 25:10; Leviticus 25:21; Deuteronomy 15:1)

ISRAEL: Consider this simple arm's length history done in the Jubilee year cycle.

1917 The Balfour Declaration; Palestine a national home land for the Jewish people.

1967 The Six Day War; Jerusalem "The Temple Mount is in Our Hands," and for the first time in over 2000 years a Shofar calls out on the Temple Mount.

2017 The American President moves the U.S. embassy to Israel's capital Jerusalem from Tel Aviv.

Bottom Line:
Consider for just a moment that the mischievous mantras currently championed by all the powers that be could in fact be works of the prince of the power of the air. "Ah that's too judgmental or adversarial" some may say. Okay, but there seems to be only a few targeted always evil or totally wrong items on the world's hate menu.

That is little Israel and the people who courageously stand with her, including this President who did what others have only promised, he has done. (Nehemiah 5:19)

Jesus, when asked by His disciples for signs of His coming, the first thing said was: "Watch out that you are not deceived." (Luke 21:8) then again "Watch out that no one deceives you." (Matthew 24:4). One could extrapolate that the calling card sign to this period is deception (a world wide deception instantaneously). (2 Corinthians 11:14-15)

Question: So how should we be praying for our President?

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Answer: I humbly submit that God can use anyone or anything He may chose to perform His will; after all did He not use an unclean raven to feed His prophet? So today why not use an ex-Democrat who was not a problem for many until God dethroned their would-be champion? Even if you may not agree, it's something to consider as possible. He is management after all and your department is sales. (Isaiah 46:10; Isaiah 54:15)

I would say, first, that we should distinguish between the offices of the government of the United States, and the individuals who are holding those offices at any particular time. Regardless of personal feelings toward individuals, I would say that it is in the interest of all citizens that the government function as a whole in a just and God-pleasing manner, and that it is perfectly proper to pray to God to bless the country by guiding and influencing the office-holders who comprise it (irrespective of who those office-holders are), and the events over which they preside, to do so.

I would also say that such prayers would be even more necessary at times when we perceive that particular individuals (who, we must also remember, have been elected by established procedures) are acting or pursuing policies in a manner that we do not believe is in conformance with those principles. At such times, we should also take advantage of all legal means available to express our opinions; to influence officials to respond to them; and to change those individuals if necessary through the right to vote, or through other legal means of recall.

Debra, your question is undoubtedly interesting! I would say:

Pray for President Biden's salvation, first and foremost. Then...

“Acknowledge to God that He has placed [our leaders] in these positions of authority. Daniel 2:21 says that God changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and establishes kings.

“Ask God to protect President Biden and his wife, as well as Vice President Harris and her husband, from the forces of evil that may desire to do them harm.

“Appeal to God that He will provide His wisdom to President Biden and Vice President Harris so they will see what God desires and be influenced by those around them who will give them the right counsel.

“Ask God to empower them to make decisions that will protect our nation at all times, leading us to be able to live tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity.

“Appeal to God earnestly that President Biden and Vice President Harris and all of their administration will find ways to work with both houses of Congress, bringing resolution to the most pressing needs facing America today.” —RONNIE FLOYD.

"King of the Earth, we pray for our President. Please give him divine wisdom to lead this country. We pray that he would serve and revere You in his words and actions. We humbly ask that You grant him grace to know how to unify our country.

“We are facing immense challenges regarding public health, a pandemic, financial hardship, economic shutdowns, racial tensions, devastation from violence and riots in the streets, and great political division among many other things. Our President faces fierce challenges and opportunities on the domestic and international fronts. Please grant our President divine wisdom to navigate our country through the uncertain path that lies ahead." --cru

“Guard our President against unfair criticism and unfounded accusations. When he stumbles, give him the courage to admit his mistakes [unlike any previous president]. Strengthen his character, guard him against hurtful compromise, and give him a listening ear for the people he serves. In danger, surround him and our country with Your angel protection. From the time he begins in office until his time is complete, may the president serve you and our country as a true leader with an undying love, an unswerving faith, and an unending hope in the only One who can make our country great. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
