I am a born again Christian, I believe that Jesus is my Lord and Savior, I believe that I am in dwelt with the Holy Spirit. My life has been changed, I desire too please our Heavenly Father while depending upon and understanding it is not of my own will/strength but by His will and Grace. I read/study His word and am often given insight to His truth found in His word. I pray for myself, my family and others, I have seen those prayers answered. I often pray without understanding depending on Him to speak on my behalf to Him who sits at the right hand of God interceding on my behalf. I have been called to action by the Holy Spirit.

While I have never spoken in tongues, I am confident that I am in dwelt with the Holy Spirit, and have been given several Spiritual Gifts that I use with His assistance to bring glory and honor to our Lord. 1Cor. 12 and 14.

I know that I have the Holy Spirit because my life has changed and continues to change.

All believers on here who have not spoken in a tongue post salvation need to take heart; and don't be discouraged. The Holy Spirit entered you the moment you put your faith in Christ. Pentecost was just like any other historical even. It happened in the past and remains there. All gifts have not ceased, but there is not subsequent spiritual baptism. The fruits of this are growing in a hatred for our sins and growing in our love for Christ. If you are waiting around for a subsequent baptism of the Holy Spirit, be on your guard. Many churches that push this will go as far as giving you syllables to repeat over and over. The baptism of the spirit that is displayed today is not what happened at Pentecost. What we see today is emotionally driven gibberish that in no way could be interpreted. Don't fall prey to the heresy.

The gifts of the Spirit is a good answer. It's scriptural.

I know a lot of believers who speak in tongues and some who don't. Do the ones who don't speak in tongues not have the Spirit? Sometimes, they may prove they walk more in the Spirit.. See 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 (the love chapter).

Galatians 5:22 talks about the fruit of the Spirit. Jesus said you would know another by his fruit.

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

If we have the gifts of the Spirit without the fruit, what good is that? People need to see the fruit, then they will believe the gifts are from Him.

Believe me you will know. He's the sweetest most precious friend anyone could ever have. Jesus says in John 14:27 NKJV "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

This peace Jesus gave us is the Holy Spirit, this is one way to know if He lives in us. When everything around us is shaking and others are going crazy, we have peace (Holy Spirit) and He keeps us calm in the middle of the storms of life.

My friends He's not just a Power, He's a wonderful friend, comforter, guide. He introduce us to Jesus and keeps us in Christ and Christ in us. I could go on and on about Him because I love Him so much. :)

You do not need to speak in tongues to know you have the Holy Spirit of wisdom within you. I am living proof of that.
The Most High has worked miracles in me. And has literally saved me from death when I first cried out to him 18 yrs ago. I continue to walk with Him each and everyday.
We must follow His word and commandments in order to inherit the Kingdom. Many new aged Christians like to argue that fact. And say the law has been done away with when Christ was nailed to the cross. Not true. And that we are free to do what we want. New Testament scripture reads......
Christ came to FULFIL the law

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil (Matthew 5:17 KJV)

Thank you and blessings

As 2 says that when the Spirit came it was as a rushing mighty wind and it laid on them like cloven tongues of fire and the were filled with the Holy Ghost, some said are these people drunk they are speaking languages that they don't know but they weren't drunk it was the Holy Ghost,

Acts 10:44-48
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

So here it says again when the Holy Ghost fell people spake with other tongues.
Then in 19:6
Acts 19:6
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

So what happens when you get the Holy Ghost? You speak in an unknown language. That's how you know you're filled.
You can also find scripture through 1 Corinthians. It is awesome knowing my God lives within me!

Jesus He was going away butnHe would not leave comfort less but He would give us a comforter. Sign, Jesus said it I believe it. Why can't we as believers except John 3:16. We need not burden people because they haven't spoken in a tongue. The word says tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that BELIEVE NOT (1 Cor 14:22) if the whole church become together in one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?. (1 Cor 14:23) Jesus told Nicodemus "you must be born again" Jesus said, John 13:35 by this shall all men know that you are my disciples if ye have love one for the other. That is the true badge of Christianity and you can only be a Christian if you've been born from above... And that is by the Holy Spirit who seals us till the day of redemption. Ask yourself am I born again... And if you are honest with yourself....The Spirit will answer you.the Spirit will witness with the spirit 1 John 5:10. Be Blessed

I know I have the Holy Spirit when I can rest on the promises of God, When the peace that come from that rest is not a feeling, but is the assurance I have in knowing that He has my back. When I have the discernment to hear His voice and His instruction for me to bring glory to Jesus. When I pray and worship with words that I know was not in me and praying for things that I cannot understand. When the words of the Scripture jumps at me and open up my vision. When I am stopped in my track to pay a little attention to the suffering of others. When He cause my eyes to be filled with tears in sight of beauty, courage and awe. When He breaks my heart with things that broke His Father's heart. When I am standing when I should be on the floor, He is holding me. When......

We must first understand that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of The Lord Jesus Christ. John 14 v 18. So if we have his Spirit then our lives will be in the process of becoming like Christ. This will produce the fruit of the Spirit, Galatians 5v22. To reinforce this, read Philippians 2v5 "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. Who being in very nature God did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.V8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself and became obedient to death even death on a cross". For us to have the Holy Spirit means to be humbled and obedient onto death. Jesus tells us the same thing in John 14. "If you Love me you will obey what I command" Again in John 15v5 I am the vine you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him he will bear much fruit. In Short, to have the Holy Spirit is to become more like Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ

Acts 2:16-17 Peter said this is that which was spoken of by the prophet Joel. What is this and what is that? This was a bunch of people speaking in a language they didn't know. That was Joel saying that God said, in the last days I will pour our My spirit upon all flesh.

Acts 10:44-46

While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, (Acts 10:44-46 KJV)

They were astonished why? Because the gentile received the Holy Ghost. How did they know they received it? Because they heard them speak in another launguge.

Acts 19:6 is another example.

And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. (Acts 19:6 KJV)

Mini Michael Hill Supporter Son. Servant. Slave. All of the Most High.
In the Old Testament, there are a few things that God said that He would cause to happen in the lives of all that He saved.

Ezekiel 36:16-36

16 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 17 Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman. 18 Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it: 19 And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them. 20 And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of his land. 21 But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went.

I WILL PUT MY SPIRIT WITHIN YOU

22 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. 23 And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. 24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. 25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. 28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. 29 I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you. 30 And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen. 31 Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations. 32 Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.

33 Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded. 34 And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by. 35 And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited. 36 Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it.

Ezekiel 37:12-14

Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, 14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live...

Jeremiah 32:39-41

And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them: 40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me. 41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

Not to mention, there is the fruit of the Spirit expressed in Galatians 5:22, and the beatitudes in Matthew 5. The Beatitudes and the Fruit of the Spirit are guaranteed things that the LORD will cause to show forth in your life. Everyone doesn't speak in tongues, everyone doesn't lay hands on the sick and see them recover, not everyone will prophesy, and the LORD will not cause miracles to be wrought by everyone's hands. There will always be some kind of spiritual gift or gifts in the life of every believer. But the fruit of the Spirit is the sign of salvation that gives us great comfort and assurance.

Test yourself to see whether ye be in the Faith. The book of 1 John is dedicated to showing the Christian how to know if they're saved. See 1 John 1:5-7 (Walking in the Light), 1 John 1:8-10 (Confession of Sin), 1 John 2:3-4 (Obedience), 1 John 2:9-11 (Love for the Brethren), 1 John 2:15-17 (Hatred of the World), 1 John 2:24-25 (Perseverance in Doctrine), 1 John 3:10 (Righteousness), 1 John 4:13 (The Spirit's Testimony), Hebrews 12:5-8 (Discipline).

There's only one way to know you are filled with the holy spirit(you and the people around you)
It's by the fruit of the Spirit Gal 5:22-24
By their fruits you'll know them...are the fruit manifesting in your life? Forget about speaking in tongues and the gifts of the Spirit (this have been counterfeited by the magicians and vudus of this world) that's why Jesus said by their fruits(not gift) you'll know them. Mt 7:16-20

Scripture instructs us: "...Repent and be baptized every one of you in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38. Do not doubt what the Word of God reaches us.

A believer need not manifest any of the "sign" gifts recorded in the Bible as they were for the authentication of God's Word. In fact to teach that a believer must exhibit any particular gift goes against Scripture. The gift of tongues is often cited as proof that the Holy Spirit resides in a believer. If one would study all of the biblical references to tongue talking, it is clear that what is commonly seen today is not the same. A better measure is to love for the fruit of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance.

Raise the dead or make the paralysed walk. Think about it, every group and millions of people think they have the Holy Spirit in one way or another, the Mormons and their prophets, the Catholics with their Pope, the Jehovah's Witnesses with the holy spirit guiding their organisation and so on. Almost nobody believes anybody else really does have the Holy Spirit because the evidence is generally highly subjective. Think about the non-subjective examples of the Holy Spirit in the bible and then compare that against all claims of possessing the Holy Spirit. It says in John 3:34 that God does not give the spirit in measure and the numerous objective examples given in the bible attest to this truth.

You cannot stop meditating the Words of God (the gospel) when the Holy Spirit is in you. You are dying to repent in every time your weak body commits even a slight mistake. You can sense His presence because He keeps on reminding you to do what is right based on the will of God which He alone knows it. You will feel guilty in time you do/think/speak against it. And, the biggest change that certainly takes place when He is in you is that anxiety for the things of the world is no longer in your vocabulary. Your sole focus is the immutable promise of eternal life in God's Kingdom. So be it. Grace and Peace..

How one knows they have the Holy Spirit is as simplistic as salvation! You instantly have the joy of Jesus Christ in your heart. You, for the first time in your life, know the distinct difference between right and wrong. You see all your mistakes and do your best to correct them and not to repeat them. None of us ever reach perfection at this. I repent daily, sometimes several times daily.

Enjoy your salvation through Jesus, and please don't let other men define you or your walk with Jesus! Glory to Jesus! Amen.

The apostle Paul answer is this, in 1 Corinthians 12:3 So I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God will curse Jesus, and no one can say Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit.

If you have the Holy Spirit of God you cannot curse Jesus, and by the Holy Spirit you can say Jesus is Lord.

This is the initial evidence that some one his received the Holy Spirit.

1 Cor chapter 12 and chapter 14 are talking about spiritual gifts that you can receive after you have receive the gift of the Holy spirit.
