Did God live in darkness before He created light ?

Genesis 1:1 - 31

ESV - 1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Jesus is God the Son. He declared, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness...' (John 8:20). So I'd say no, God didn't, and actually could not live in darkness. Light expels darkness, and Jesus is light. The light said to be created in Genesis 1 is another light, a light that can be extinguished. God is a different light altogether.
