Jesus, along with Peter, James and John have just descended from the heights of Mt Hermon. This is determined to be the very possible location of His transfiguration. In the Tel-Dan, head waters for the upper Jordan, is Cesarae Philippi. This is where the Temple of Dan is located. There is a deep bottomless pit in the mountainside. Human sacrifices were done here. The locals referred to it as the Gates of Hell. We can only imagine that Jesus and the three disciples were standing here.
