Deuteronomy 7:6: "For you are to be a holy people belonging to the Lord your God. The Lord has chosen you to be His own possession out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.”

Jeremiah 2:3: "Israel was holy to the Lord, the firstfruits of the harvest."

Genesis 12:3: "I will bless those who bless you. I will curse anyone who treats you with contempt."

James 1:18: "By his own choice, he gave us birth by the word of truth so that we would be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures."

Ephesians 1:12: "So that we who had already put our hope in Christ might bring praise to his glory."

The Israelites gave God the distractions of everything they had. This proved their love for God was sincere. As God's "firstfruits" they are valued as a son or daughter. Those who keep God's words are undefiled. They seek to please God first.
