Matthew 6:9 GNT This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven: May your holy name be honored.'
Matthew 6:1 - 34
NLT - 1 “Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven. 2 When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do - blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get.

I would like to add to the previous comment, which is acceptable. However, given the present circumstances in the Christian world today, where few know, utter, write, or make known the name of the Creator of heaven, earth and Father of our Savior, the Messiah, (Col 1:13-19) more needs to be brought out about this question: "How can we honor the name of God." Although the word 'honor' does not occur in the KJV, the Hebrew word 'kabad' or 'kabed' are equivalents and means 'to be heavy, to be glorified, to be honored, to be burdensome.' The Hebrew word for 'glorified' related to Yahova is 'paw-ar' which means: to embellish; to beautify; to adorn. These words suggest something beautiful, burnished and worn proudly. The Creator exposes His personal name to Moses at Exodus 6:3 and that name is Jehovah in the KJV. Rather than being hidden or largely ignored, He stated his intentions about His name at Exodus 9:16. Prophets who presumed to speak in His name when they had not the authority to do so would die according to His Word. His name is so important that in the book of Ezekiel, He repeats over 70 times, 'They shall know that I am the LORD, or (H3068: Yahova) Clearly Yahova will make His name known to all the nations, especially now, where we all recognize we are living in 'the time of the end.' How is He going to cause all the nations to 'know' His Name is beyond me, but His Word cannot return to Him unfulfilled. (Isa 55:11) Therefore, I wait to see the fulfillment of these prophecies. Finally, His name is 'holy' which means 'apartness' or 'sacredness.' Unfortunately, the Jewish people formulated a superstition that forbid uttering or writing the sacred, holy name of Yahova. Sadly, Christianity followed suit and seldom utter, praise, glorify or even write the Holy, Sacred Name of Yahova. It seems to me this is an important issue in view of the Words of Yahova at Isa 52:6: "Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I." Personally, I wish to be viewed as one of Yahova's 'people' who know, utter, write and defend His Sacred Holy Name. Shalom Shalom.
Great question! We can honor God's name first by coming to him in faith through his Son, Jesus Christ. The verse that supports this is John 3:18 "Whoever believes in him [in Jesus]is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son." But we don't want to be a pretender. You must be sincere because Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of heaven – only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven." And once you come to Christ in faith, rely on the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit to keep you. Jesus also said, "[But] whoever denies me before people, I will deny him also before my Father in heaven." Finally, how you treat people, especially the lowly, for example, children, is important to God. Jesus said, "See that you do not disdain one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven."
