My prayer is that we all come to a place where we would speak where the bible speaks and keep our mouths close where the bible does not speak. We must reverence God word so much that, if I do not see an example or command to "plead the blood of Jesus" then that is something I'm not going to do. Let us reference the blood of Jesus only to what is said in scripture, nothing more, nothing less. It's interesting though in all the power displayed by the disciples of Christ in scripture, now of them plead the blood of Jesus. You want victory in your life here is a scripture you can go by and I promise, you don't need to say the words, I plead the blood of Jesus. James 4:7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

My opinion is this that the blood of the Passover lamb has been made available to all willing saints. We overcome Satan when we testify personally to what the Word of God says the blood of Jesus does for us. 1 The blood of Jesus Christ can not be of any effect so long as it's just seen in the basin (the cross of calvery), it must be applied using a hyssop (the Word of God). Let the redeemed of The Lord say so...Until it's applied, the blood seems as ordinary and of non-effect (and saves no one in that house on the Passover eve). One way I've learned to apply (or plead, if you may) the blood of Jesus is like this: Through the blood of Jesus, I am redeemed out of the hand of the devil. 2 Through the blood of Jesus, all my sins are forgiven. 3 Through the blood of Jesus, I am continually being cleansed from all sin. 4 Through the blood of Jesus, I am justified, made righteous, just- as- if- I’d never sinned. 5 Through the blood of Jesus, I am sanctified, made holy, set apart to God. 6 Through the blood of Jesus, I have boldness to enter into the presence of God. 7 The blood of Jesus cries out continually to God in heaven on my behalf. 8 1 See Revelation 12:11. 2 See Ephesians 1:7. 3 See 1 John 1:9. 4 See 1 John 1:7. 5 See Romans 5:9. 6 See Hebrews 13:12. 7 See Hebrews 10:19. 8 See Hebrews 12:24.

For the Lord will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. (Exodus 12:23 KJV) I have to agree here, pleading for something that's already available is not necessary. It's accessible already. So let us rather apply it as was instructed by God to the Israelites during Passover. After all Christ Jesus is the Passover. Shalom Now it happened that when Yeshua had finished all these words, He said to His disciples, “You know that Passover comes in two days, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be executed.” (The Gospel according to Matthew 26:1, 2 TLV)

Brethren, the scripture clearly lets us know that Jesus' blood is for the remission of sins: Col 1:14 & Eph 1:7. Other scripture tells us how to properly understand why and how the blood was shed. I pray we can all be like the Bereans, to search to see if what is being said is in the scripture. May the knowledge & wisdom that comes from God be granted to all who seek.

In all of this Paul could say, “God is for me!” He lived by that wonderful fact. Sure he had difficulties, but God… He was for Paul so nothing could be against him. It wasn’t always so with Paul, who at one time was Saul. But he met Christ on the Damascus Road. It was a definite transaction with God. What a change for him! His name was changed to Paul and he was a different man. He changed his occupation and began serving God. After this Paul knew that God was for him. The hardships of his life only drove Him closer to God. He would say later: “none of these things move me”. That seems to mean that in spite of those things, Paul knew God was with and God was for him. None of those things separated Paul from the love of Christ. None of our trials need move us away from Christ, but they can move us closer to him. God was for Paul, and He is for us. We can depend on it. Each child of God may say, “...this I know; for God is for me” (Psalm 56:9). Then we may say, “who can be against us?” The obvious answer is ’no one’ for God “is for me!" That’s something to shout about! God is For Us Since our God is for us There’s no need for fear He loves His children He is ever near. I personally think that pleading the blood is some cliché that we oftentimes use. Personally I do not understand the statement because if Jesus died freely and he did then why should I or would I plead for something that was given at his will. If anything I would place his blood over situations or circumstances that you might need the Lord’s quick response to if that is how you communicate to the Lord or handle situations that the enemy has affixed himself to in your life. However I have to agree with Mr. Houdman’s response to that there are no right or wrong words or mystical saying that we can utter to the Lord to make him move any faster to our request but faith in the Lord’s abilities to perform the act that you asked in Jesus name. If anything we should stick with the word of God and demonstrate like Jesus did in Matthew 16:26 when he rebuked Peter by saying ….”Get behind me Satan”. A full rebuke!

What is the purpose of the blood of Jesus? Why did Jesus spill His blood at Calvary? The purpose of Christ's spilled blood is for the remission of sins. His blood was used to satisfy God's demand for a sacrifice. It is not now nor has it ever been some sort of amulet for protection or prosperity as many Word of Faith preachers claim it is. This is taking advantage of Christ's work and turning it around for their selfish gain. You cannot claim the blood of Jesus over anything except (if you are biblically saved) over the fact that you are saved and your sins are covered and washed away.

I have searched the scripture and I did not see where it was written that Christians should plead the blood of Jesus. The Bible however instructed us to ask whatever we need in the name of Jesus. Let us see the following references : Colossians 3 : 17 John 16: 23 John 14 : 13 1 John 5 :14 -15 In all these references, we are admonished to ask in the name of Jesus. May God give us understanding of His word.

" 1cor. 10:16a, " the cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ….? ". I don't think as believers we should be arguing or be critical about whether one uses the blood of Jesus Christ to pray. I strongly believe in the Name of Jesus Christ and the blood of Jesus Christ. According to the will of God in Romans 8:26 " likewise the spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered". Jesus Christ became master over everything after he shed his blood for our redemption, deliverance, healing and overcoming the devils in all ramifications and in all spheres of our lives. Also note that Jesus Christ is God who came in the flesh….. John 1:1 and he created all things. The devil has no part to play in us because of the blood of Jesus Christ. We're under the atonement of that blood which was shed on cross for us.

My view is that the blood of Jesus is available for the redemption of souls and for the cleansing of sin and for no other purposes. The Bible is explicit that Christ's blood purchased the Church, the corporate body of believers (Acts 20:28-29). It is also available for our cleansing from the stain of sin (1 John 1 8-10). I find no other purposes for which the blood of Jesus Christ is to be applied. I therefore disagree with the notion that believers should plead the blood of Jesus Christ for practically every situation they encounter.

It may be unnecessary to pray in this manner, and specifically may not have any scriptural basis, but you need the take into consideration a person's heart before God when they pray, pleading the blood of Jesus. What they're really saying is for God to protect, deliver, etc with His life giving power. However, there is power in the blood of Jesus. Christians do a lot things that are not necessarily scriptural in nature, but again God knows their heart. He knows what they are asking for. His protection. His deliverance. His saving power.
