The Bible tells us we need to attend church so we can worship God with other believers and be taught His Word for our spiritual growth. The early church "devoted themselves to the apostles' teachin...

A shorter answer would be. Like anything else, a gym etc., if one quits going one quits getting the benefits. A friend of mine once asked me the following. If someone gave you a million Dollars and only asked you to come see him a few times a week, would you? Answer would be yes.

So when God gives us eternal life in Heaven, and all the other blessings that come with salvation, and only asks us to worship him in his church a few times a week, shouldn't we?

"Prone to wander Lord I feel it, prone to leave the God I love".
This is one of the lines from a Hymn I like and says it all, to me anyway.
I relate Church to "charging my spiritual Batteries", the more I miss the less l do, such as Bible reading and praying etc.
I know, or have known so many people that were, or are shut ins, they would give anything to be able to go to church. One day, that could be me, so l go while I still can!

Why is church attendance important?

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 1 Cor 3:16

The Church is the body of believers in Christ that transcends time and space because of the infinite Sprit of God at work. This explains why believers are intrinsically edified by Scripture alone - corporately and individually, that is, as the Redeemed of the Lord and personally as a beloved child of God purchased by Christ Himself.

We are therefore just as edified by His indwelling be it in the privacy of our study at home, in small groups, in isolated prison cells or teeming mega churches.

There's also the church online that may have more soul than a churchy institution. As a certain Zimmerman 'prophesied' some decades ago, "For the times, they are a-changin' " (alias Bob Dylan).

But where mere 'churchianity' feigns in biblical doctrines, there lies the indelible marks of a different gospel, a different spirit and another Jesus (Acts 20:27; Gal 1; 2 Cor 11:3-18). Church may then be better off with two or three gathered in His name to worship Him in spirit and in truth sans an adulterated Gospel.

‘Why is church attendance important?’ then, if it be but the antithesis of the Gospel that is to draw the gullible to feed on the fallacies of the post-modern church viz. The Emergent Church, the New Age Church, the WOF Church, etc.

A few years ago a young man was in my sales office and as we visited, I asked him if he was a Christian. He answered yes. I then asked him where he went to church. He replied that he did not go to church.

I told him, we'll, you can be a Christian and not attend Church. He then said "But it sure is easier if you do."

A good church makes it so much easier to live a Christian life. Instruction, fellowship and discipline. Organized activities including benevolence and taking care of each have others needs like roofing the house of widows, etc. All should be a part of church life.

One of the biggest benefits of attending a good church is that others will pray for you on a regular basis. And the fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Paul, more than once compared living a Christian life to running a race. Having a church to cheer you on helps you win that race.

I say that we must be obedient to the Word of God. The Scripture says, "Not forsaking the assembling of our selves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25."

We must worship God together as well as in our secret places. We must formulate the Body of Christ through our studying the word together. We need one another for we are the Body of Christ.
