The helmet of salvation.... Isa 59:15-17: Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment. And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him. For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke. Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation [hope of salvation, which occurs when we are resurrected], and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 1Th 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
Armor of God is a biblical description of the believers inventory and action plan for putting it on and developing a personalized strategy to secure victory. These are required for a spiritual warfare for our everyday life. Put on the full armor for a battlefield condition so that we will be protected as we fight against the evil strategies of the accuser. Our hand-to-hand combat is not with the human beings but with the highest principalities and authorities operating in rebellion under the heavenly realms. We must wear all armor that God provides so that we are protected as we confront the slanderers. Put on truth as the protective armor that covers our heart. Stand on our feet always so that we can share the blessings of peace as we subdue our enemies. Take faith as your wrap-around shield so that we would able to extinguish the blazing arrows coming from the evil end. Embrace the power of salvation in full deliverance like a helmet to protect our thoughts. Take razor sharp spirit sword of the spoken word of God. Pray passionately in the spirit,
I'm so glad you asked. The full armor of God, according to Ephesians chapter 6, protects us from of Satan's evil-dirty darts, traps and schemes. Plus, it protects us from the rulers of darkness, those that try to tell us things opposite of the true word of God. "Beware, and careful/prayerful."
Our Spanish pastor recently preached a sermon on the armor of God. He told us that there is a difference when a soldier used it in that time or in ours for that matter, that after the battle, the soldier could take off his armor and breathe a sigh of relief. Not so for the Christian soldier. Because Satan could attack AT ANY TIME, the Christian warrior must be ALWAYS READY. When I lived in Dallas, I was preaching a sermon in Spanish on "The Armor of God," and I was using an overhead projector with overlays of each colored piece of armor. Somehow the projector was so hot that it started melting my pieces! And they were smoking! The audience gasped and so I quickly turned off the projector. See, Satan attacks in high places when least expected. The “whole armor of God” is an image of Jesus Christ. Christ is the Truth (John 14:6), and He is our righteousness (1 Cor. 1:30; 2 Cor. 5:21) and our peace (Eph. 2:14). He is our salvation (Luke 2:30; Hebrews 2:10 *--He is "the Captain of our salvation". So put “on the Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom. 13:14). Now here's a verse worth memorizing!-- "But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts." NASB As the author, Charles Wesley, in 1749 put it in his hymn, "Soldiers of Christ, arise, And put your armor on; Strong in the strength which God supplies through' his eternal Son": "Stand then in His great might, with all His strength endued, But take, to arm you for the fight, the panoply of God [THE FULL ARMOR]; That, having all things done, and all your conflicts passed, Ye may o’ercome through Christ alone and stand entire at last." * Hebrews 2:10
A full armor is protecting yourself against the evil of this world though the words of God, the words of God is not for us to just speak it, it is for us to live by. There are many people in the Bible that went through the same things that we are going though today, Jesus said in his words that he is "the way the truth and the life no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6.
