Is eating food that was previously sacrificed to idols permissible?

Understanding what Pauls says about food sacrificed to idols in 1 Corinthians, please help me reconcile this with what Christ is saying two times about the subject in Revelation 2:14; 20. Are these in reference to past sins?

1 Corinthians 2:1 - 16

NLT - 1 When I first came to you, dear brothers and sisters, I didn’t use lofty words and impressive wisdom to tell you God’s secret plan. 2 For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified.

In Acts 15:29 the conference in Jerusalem between James et al and Paul ended with those who acknowledged Jesus as the Jewish Messiah tacking on some Jewish requirements, none of which is applicable to a Christian today.

No, it is NOT permissible based on the ruling of the Jerusalem Council in Acts 15:20, 29. This prohibition was made by believers, for believers, and has NEVER been revoked. Paul's discussion of the practice is merely useful commentary.
