Yes.

Back in the late 80's and early 90's I listened to his radio show and frequently meditated with the technique Masters claims is "nothing less than the secret of life itself -- how to get close to yourself and find your lost identity, the true self you have lost in the confusion."

Masters does not say plainly whether or not he is a Christian; he usually only refers to Jesus Christ as J.C.. He teaches that we are responsible for saving ourselves and uses biblical sounding jargon and words like "Grace" and "Be still and know."

The following is a quote from one of his books:

"No form of outer assistance can substitute for inner direction. Direction must come always from within. Moved by the spirit of intuition, we move without excitement, effort or strain. The more we exercise our dependency upon the Within, the stronger this relationship becomes, and we know it to be Grace," (How Your Mind Can Keep You Well, p. 165, Foundation Press, 1971).

One time while I was meditating to the sound of Roy Masters voice on a cassette tape I observed what I now know to be a demon. On several occasions I experienced what many people who practice yoga describe as awakening the "kundalini serpent spirit". At the time I did not believe in or understand the supernatural at all and passed these demonic experiences off as figments of my own imagination.

I thank and praise God that He brought me through such a dark time in my life. I was lost for many years but the persistence of the Holy Spirit brought me to repentance in 2011 by showing me that Jesus died to save sinners like me.

"So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil work and will bring me safely into His heavenly kingdom. To Him be the glory forever and ever! Amen." (2 Timothy 4:17-18)

Approx. 2,000 years ago the apostle Paul lamented:
“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.” (2 Corinthians 11:3-4)

That warning is sadly even more applicable today, with Roy Masters (Reuben Obermeister) being a prime example of a subtle seducing spirit who actually targeted Christians.

While some of his most frank and extreme statements have been removed from the Internet, what has been documented makes it clear that Obermeister was indeed an anti-Christ cult leader, an esoteric guru, and a crafty, shifty deceiver, who was far more influential than may be expected, although lacking the organizational powers of a typical religious cult.

Masters affirms that Jesus of Nazareth is the only begotten Son of God and Messiah, yet he denies the historical Christian Trinity. (www.fhu.com/statement-of-belief1.html, and instead stated that, “One of the biggest curses in religion Christendom is the false idea that Jesus is God; it is imperative that you not believe that Jesus is God.”

Masters states he takes the Bible literally as the word from God, versus the word of God, nor the Bible itself as holy, as consistent with his mystical viewpoint he distinguishes between the words and understanding, so that the standard for truth is not the Bible, but what the Bible awakes one in his own heart. Masters explains that he meditates in a special way so as to detach his conscious spirit from his imagination and thereby attains reality. This is criticized as being overly subjective, as is Masters’ claim that he does not break any of the laws of God, and that being born again being a result of growth from Divine sperm (metaphorically) being implanted. Moreover, the type of adulation “above that which is written” (1 Cor. 4:) exhibited by some of his followers is disconcerting, and Masters also once boasted, “I could get people to die for me any day. I’ve got more power over people than Adolph Hitler and Jim Jones combined, because I’m smarter. I know how to push people’s buttons” (Los Angeles Times, 12/3/78; http://www.watchman.org/cults/newdimen.htm [https://web.archive.org/web/20010209134317/http://www.watchman.org/cults/newdimen.htm]).
