Why did God make a leper live alone and isolated, and command him to cry out "unclean!"?
It seems capricious.
Leviticus 13:45 - 46
NASB - 45 "As for the leper who has the infection, his clothes shall be torn, and the hair of his head shall be uncovered, and he shall cover his mustache and cry, 'Unclean! Unclean!' 46 He shall remain unclean all the days during which he has the infection; he is unclean. He shall live alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp.

After reading leviticus 13 again, I believe that the chapter was referring to how to react and deal with people that is "diagnosed" with leprosy. The extent of the detail given in this chapter is great, and I would believe God wasn't specifically directing people to outcast the leper. In those era where modern medicine is not yet available, contracting leprosy would most likely result in death. Giving specific directives on how to handle a person with leprosy to prevent mass outbreaks seems to be the aim (at least in my humble perspective) To wear torn clothes were likely to reduce wastage, since during those times, burning of corpses who died due to a epidemic is the norm. Shouting of unclean was likely to warn people from coming into contact and contracting leprosy themselves as well. Just my 2 cents, hope it helps. Regards, Lincoln
