What makes me different from the goats in the Bible story when Jesus separated the sheep from the goats?

How can I know that I won't be told "away from me I don't know you"? It seems these people were genuinely surprised.

Matthew 25:31 - 46

ESV - 31 When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

Good question. The fact that you are concerned probably means you're a sheep, not a goat. You care what Jesus thinks and live according to His rule in your life.

Do you love Jewish people? This passage refers to how people (some would say nations) treat the Jews (Christ's "brethren"). If The Lord brings people into your life that are less than lovely, how do you treat them? Do you show them Christ's love and help them, or do you try to avoid having anything to do with them?

As to the surprise of the goats, there are many people who think they are believers who are not. Many so-called faith healers and prosperity Gospel guys will be shocked to hear, "I never knew you."

Best advice: tell Jesus you don't want to be a goat! Ask Him to make you more like Him, so that you will hear, "Well done."
