What does it mean that a person will not inherit the kingdom of God?

1 Corinthians 6:9 - 11

ESV - 9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality. 10 Nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

The answer by Mr. Houdmann is a good one. I would like to add to it. The Bible also says, that cowards, liars " and the like" WOW and the like? That pretty well is all of us. Mr. Houdmann said one word that is very important. Decreasing.

I know people and personally what it is to sin and hate it. I have seen and experience complete deliverance from sin. We as practicing Christians should hate sin and by hating it, repentance should be immediate. We are in a war the spirit against the flesh and in this body we will always be. Praise God that we as Christians hate it when we sin. Whether we tell a lie, or live a life struggling against a certain sin. Paul explained it so well in stating ( and I will just state part of it) I Paul the chief of sinners struggle, why do I do the things I hate to do and not do the things I want to do? What a wretched man I am! Who will save me from this, praise to my Savior Jesus Christ.

I pray that all of us who struggle with sin will see it and eliminate it by reading our Bible, and building a strong DAILY relationship with our God and Father, put on the armor God tells us to and we will overcome and run the good race.

The short answer is this, those outside the faith community will not be part of God’s kingdom.

All of those people Paul declared to be wicked are indeed still to this day, wicked. Some of them stand out more than others. But if you look at it clearly, a homosexual is being said to be on the same level as a thief, a con man, a person who drinks too much, and even a greedy person.

Let's be honest for a few minutes here; that ain't how we look at it!!

If your son or daughter drinks too much, is that the same to you as it would be if he or she was in a homosexual relationship? OF COURSE NOT!! In the scriptures referenced here, IT IS! So what's being said here? Something very theological.

The people who were once considered to be thieves and homosexuals WERE WASHED, ARE SANCTIFIED, ARE JUSTIFIED in the name of Jesus and by the Spirit of God. (vs11)

So his warning to them is, since you've been given the GIFT of salvation (which is sanctification and justification), STOP SINNING SEXUALLY!! Without mentioning the other offenses, he singles out sexual sin. WHY? Because it is a sin against your own body, the temple of God. (It clogs up the whole machinery)

So will a saved person who sins against his own body inherit the kingdom of God? How about a greedy saved person?

A person is washed (redeemed) when he confesses Jesus as his only way to be cleansed of his sins. Paul is speaking of unsaved, unwashed sinners.

Mr Houdmann makes it about "stopping" after being washed. That's secular.

What saves, ceasing to sin or confession of sin? Neither; payment for sin does!
