This verse is literal. I believe that the human part of Jesus was speaking just as He wept in John 11:35. We do know that Jesus was 100% man and 100% God. It was the fear of a new beginning. It was going to be the first public display of His miraculous ministry. We thank God that His mother, who God had probably revealed the timing to, was present as an encourager and a motivator. We all need a push to answer the call of God.

Jesus made old wine at the wedding; his time to pour out 'new wine' hadn't come yet.

He said "NO MAN" having drunk old wine immediately desires new.
The whole thing is about doctrine and teaching.

He needed a corresponded power from his father anytime he did anything. As a man of God you can’t be doing miracles, healing, deliverance, etc... without corresponding with the Holy Spirit. There should be a spirit suggestion.
