Matthew 12:36

ESV - 36 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak.

In a nutshell... gossip! We know what we say about others some way or other gets back to them and it hurts. There is also the matter of blessings and cursing.

James 3:9 says
'With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God's likeness'.

If your in doubt about what your tongue is doing ask yourself what would Jesus say in that situation. Remember always what a powerful weapon the tongue is - a double edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Quell your desire to say anything ill of anyone or anything and let your tongue be only a source of blessing.
