Why was it important that Jesus healed so many people while on Earth?

Matthew 14:35 - 36

ESV - 35 And when the men of that place recognized him, they sent around to all that region and brought to him all who were sick 36 And implored him that they might only touch the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched it were made well.

In Luke chapter 4 we first read of Christ's temptation (testing). Thereafter in power of the Spirit he first went to Galilee and then Nazareth. Following the custom he went into the synagogue to read. He was handed the book of Isaiah and found a specific passage which is Isaiah 61:1 and began to read.

Luke 4:18-19. "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord."

Notice the accuracy of Scripture. In quoting Isaiah 61:1-2 he stopped short and did not quote "the day of vengeance of our God" because it belongs to his Second Advent, when he returns in power and great glory. He further stated in Luke 4:21 " "This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears"

Our Lord no doubt had (has) compassion beyond comprehension! However, the primary purpose of his many miracles was to fulfill prophecy thereby providing overwhelming evidence beyond a shadow of a doubt that He was the promised Messiah, the Son of the living God.

As John stated in John 20:21 " But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name."

Andy 3 photo Andy Mangus Supporter I am a Christian since October 1979 & devoted truth seeker.
My short and direct answer is this: God's Word tells us that "Jesus is the Great Physician" and that He came to heal those that are hurting and make us whole again! He not only heals our physical infirmities, pain and suffering but most importantly our hearts, mind and eternal soul! "Jesus came to save that which was lost" and all pain and suffering. And, it is in His perfect timing!

I live in the Hurricane Harvey ravaged southeast Texas in which there are many in need of not only physical rescue, relief and sustenance but also, spiritual 'soul-saving' redemption! God has a master plan for each of our lives and so many need to turn their eyes to the Most Holy and Righteous Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ, His one and only begotten Son to receive "true" healing and restoration of their very souls!

"Praise The Lord that He provided a Savior! And, His name is Jesus Christ!
