As the Bible expresses in multiple places, the cited passage is saying that material wealth (in whatever form, such as money, land, or physical possessions) is of no use to an individual after death in eternity. If those assets are accumulated solely for the purpose of the person's own temporal pleasure or power, they will provide no benefit that will survive this earthly life.

Instead, as Jesus put it in Matthew 6:19-21, "Lay not up for yourselves treasures here on earth, where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."
