Is Isaiah 7:14 a double prophecy, speaking of Isaiah's son and also prophetic concerning Christ's birth?

The context seems to concern Isaiah's son but what about the virgin birth?

Isaiah 7:1 - 25

ESV - 1 In the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah the king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but could not yet mount an attack against it. 2 When the house of David was told, "Syria is in league with Ephraim," the heart of Ahaz and the heart of his people shook as the trees of the forest shake before the wind.

Is.7:14, "The Lord (Adonai) himself shall give you a sign; Behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel."

Isaiah was referring to the birth of the Messiah. The prophet's view was a pregnant virgin who is about to bear a son. This prophecy MUST refer to the virgin birth of Christ since the virgin is pregnant and is still a virgin! Immanuel is a symbolic name, meaning "God with us". He is the incarnate Son of God.

As seen Isaiah was not giving two prophecies, it was one, the son referred to was not his but the Son of God----Jesus (Yeshua)

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Yes it is a double prophecy and the great revelation in this verse is that his name shall be Immanuel, which means God with us! Amazing, that for the first time in human history God would indwell a human being from the womb. Notice the following verse:

2Co 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ - His anointed one, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

So here was a completely new thing, from his birth God was indwelling His uniquely begotten son, who was the beginning of His new creation of which we are also a part of being new creations in the lord Jesus God's anointed one - Messiah - King of Israel - which we have been grafted into - see Romans 11:

In the OT no one had God's Spirit indwelling them, the Spirit of God was with them, but not indwelling them. But then Jesus is born having the Spirit of God, God's presence indwelling him to the full:

Col 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
Col 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of God bodily.
Joh 3:34 For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God: for God gives not the Spirit by measure unto him [Jesus received the full measure of God's Spirit indwelling him].

We now because of what Jesus has done and is as the beginning of God's new Creation also have the honor of having the Spirit of God indwelling in us, the nature of God indwelling us:

2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Wow, partakers of the diving nature given to us as new creatures [creations] in the lord Jesus. Amazing Grace!

We are as a result of God's Spirit and nature indwelling us, the temples of God!

1Co 3:16 Know you not that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

So in the lord Jesus, having his Spirit and the Spirit of God dwelling in us:

John 14:20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

We are the temple of God, have been grafted into the Israel of God, are called the sons of God and the children of Abraham, receiving all that God promised to him through his seed, the Lord Jesus. We are going to co-rule with him and co-inherit with him this entire earth, as he said: "The meek shall inherit the earth." With all that has been given to us, a great responsibility is ours to carry out all he has given us the power to do. Preach the Kingdom to the whole world, even as he did!

And we can do that because the one whose name is called Emmanuel is with us always! Praise Yehovah God, Amen.
