Jesus is simply telling Peter that he should not concern himself with what He was doing. It was enough that Peter be about the business that the Lord had given him to do. So it is for every Christian today. Just a daily faithful walk should keep us on the straight and narrow. We do not have time to mind someone else's business. Simply put - trust and obey!

Jesus' statement in John 21:22 can be interpreted in several ways, depending on the theological and individual perspectives. Here are some common interpretations:

**1. Focus on Individual Calling:**
This interpretation emphasizes the emphasis on personal responsibility and following Jesus' teachings instead of concerning oneself with the fate of others. In this view, Jesus redirects Peter's attention from another disciple's future to focus on his own path and mission.

**2. Emphasis on Divine Sovereignty:**
Some see this verse highlighting God's ultimate control over individuals' destinies. Jesus reminds Peter that God's will, not personal speculation, determines the future. It encourages trust in God's plan for each person's life.

**3. Avoiding Comparison and Envy:**
This interpretation suggests that Jesus discourages Peter from comparing his calling and destiny to another disciple's. It emphasizes focusing on one's own path and avoiding envy or judgement towards others' roles in God's plan.

**4. Mystery and Openness to God's Plan:**
This view highlights the ambiguity surrounding the other disciple's future. Jesus' response emphasizes that some things are unknown, and individuals should focus on their own calling while maintaining openness to God's unfolding plan.

**5. Not a Denial of Future Death:**
It's important to note that some interpretations argue that Jesus' statement doesn't guarantee the other disciple's immortality. Instead, it focuses on redirecting Peter's attention and emphasizing individual responsibility.

Ultimately, the specific meaning of Jesus' words depends on the reader's theological framework and understanding of the text. However, regardless of interpretation, the core message emphasizes focusing on one's own calling and responsibility within God's plan, rather than speculating about the lives of others.
