Firstly, before we get to the meaning of ''olive tree'' here, we ought to understand the context of Psalm 128:
- The context tells us about the benefits of fearing the Lord; those that fear Him are blessed (see vv. 1-2).
- Now, in v. 3, ''olive tree'' is mentioned figuratively, meaning that the children of a man who fears God would be vigorous and vivid, just as an olive tree. Therefore, in scriptural language, an olive tree is an emblem (representation or figure) of vitatility and vigour (see Psalms 52:8; Jeremiah 11:16).
