What is the difference between 'workers' and 'busybodies'?

From the comments I am seeing something new. Is "busybody" another term for gossip? I thought it meant a body that was busy {a worker}.

2 Thessalonians 3:10 - 12

ESV - 10 For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. 11 For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies.

2 Thessalonians 3:10-12
10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. 11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. 12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

In this passage of scripture, we can see from the context that Paul
is contrasting people making a living with people who are simply sticking their noses into the business of others.

The exortation here is that we should work to provide. Anyone who won't provide for his own has denied the faith and is worse than an infidel. 1 Timothy 5:8

A busybody is just another word for a meddler in the affairs of others.
And one final note. The word infidel means unbeliever. So any who are able to take care of their own, but refuse, are worse than sinners.

Also check out Lev 19:16, God wasn't to very fond of busybodies, or talebearers as it is called here.

Gossiping is a sin in that it pulls the confessed, repented, forgiven sin from under the Blood of Jesus and places it on the head of the person that is gossiping and listening to it. It does not hurt the one being gossiped about. They are forgiven! How careful we must be to watch our mouths and our ears that they are not participating in this garbage.

The Sea of Forgetfulness is accessible to all at this time. The enemy loves to go back there and dig up things we have done, said or thought and bring them back to us like they just happened. Jesus has fully forgiven us, all we must do is Thank Him for this! Praise Him for this! Bless Him for this! Glorify Him for this! Should a human dig something up, this same practice will help us to fully overcome!

Be Blessed
Lena
