Why did God give exact measurements when he instructed people to build things in some places in the Bible?

Exodus 25:23

NLT - 23 “Then make a table of acacia wood, 36 inches long, 18 inches wide, and 27 inches high.

God gave very precise instructions in the Bible. He gave very specific measurements. Here are some examples:

Noah' s ark - Genesis 6:13-22. Exodus 25:10, 37:1-9, exact measurements for the ark of testimony. Exodus 25:23, the table (37:10-16).

There are many more exact measures, instructions through chapter 31.

In 2 Chronicles 2, Solomon has the temple built by the exact measurements given by God, to his father David.

God's commandments in Exodus chapters 20-24 are quite exact! Throughout the Bible we see this exact theme from God. In Ezekiel chapters 40-48, instructions, exact instructions are given for A NEW CITY, A NEW TEMPLE.

In Acts 1:4...(Jesus)...commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait... they did, and were blessed with the Holy Spirit.

Why all this exact instruction, measurements? When God repeats something it is for emphasis. I think the lesson is, despite setbacks, we are always to be filled with hope. We must know that God is always in control. His Plans are definite. These Plans will always come to fruition.

He moves in His own timeframe. Mark 1 "The beginning of the Gospel..." But there is no end, not to the Good News of salvation! God is saying, trust Me, I know the way!

I think one reason God gives such precise measurements is to make us aware that He not only knows every detail of our lives, but cares about every detail. As Mat 10:30 tells us He even knows the number of hairs on our head.Jesus told us this so that we wouldn't need to be afraid. (v 31).

The direct modern-day idea equivalent of such Arks is a Church. Although our first thought is a picture of a church building, the real "Church" is a body of people separated for the Lord, or Ekklesia (Greek). Just saying "Body of Christ" ould mean both His Physical body and also the Church (Eph 5:25).

The Spiritual Church, or Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 16:18,19) is already numbered before the foundation of th world (Eph 1:4) and only those who have already been chosen will believe (Acts 13:48) because God predestined the salvation of His children (Ephesians 1:5).

And so, the Ark measurements are a foreshadow of the exact number of the people of God.

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! (Rom 11:33)

In my opinion God gives specific measurements for his assignments to man so that the object can be unique and not oversized or undersized. This is evidenced in things he created with his own hands. Assuming man's body features were unmeasured by God, we would have had people with unusually long noses, teeth protruding out of the mouth, ears bigger than the size of one's palm, etc, and that would make life uncomfortable for some people. This teaches us a lesson that whatever we do we must have standards and do well to maintain those standards. Christians must be able to set spiritual and some physical standards for themselves, live within them, and this will make them unique in the sight of God.
