Hebrew: bowr (H953) is used to refer a pit. Here in Ezek 32:18 and Ezek. 26:20; 28:8; 31:14,16; 32:18,23,25,30 it simply means the state of death.

Bowr (H953) is used figuratively of the state of sin (Ps. 40:2; Isa. 51:1) and of the state of death (Ps. 28:1; 30:3; 88:4,6; 143:7; Prov. 1:12; 28:17; Isa. 14:15-19; 24:22; 38:18; Ezek. 26:20; 31:14,16; 32:18,24-30).

Hope that helps

Good question, James! What does going down to the pit refer to in Ezekiel 32?

Ezekiel 32:17-21

Singapore (Selva?) is right:

The Hebrew word for "pit" is transliterated "bowr" -- You read Hebrew from right to left. It can mean different things in the Bible: well, cistern, pit (like the one Joseph's brothers threw him into because they hated him), dungeon, but the best lexicon (similar to a dictionary) of the Old Testament is Brown-Driver-Briggs. They have this entry:

5 (in poetry & late; never with article) pit of the grave Proverbs 28:17; so ׳אַבְנֵי ב stones of the pit Isaiah 14:19 (of sepulchre, walled with stones) & of Sh®°ôl Psalm 30:4 ("" שׁאול); ׳יַרְכְּתֵי ב loins of (the) pit, i.e. remotest pit Isaiah 14:15 ("" שׁאול) Ezekiel 32:23 especially in phrase יוֺרְדֵי בוֺר those going down to (the) pit Psalm 28:1; Psalm 143:7; Isaiah 38:18; Ezekiel 26:20; Ezekiel 32:25,29,30; also, ("" שׁאול), Psalm 88:5; Proverbs 1:12; further Ezekiel 26:20; Ezekiel 32:18, 24 (all "" אֶרֶץ תַּחְתִּיּוֺת), Ezekiel 31:14,16 (both "" אֶרֶץ תַּחְתִּית; Ezekiel 31:14 "" also מָוֶת, Ezekiel 31:16 שְׁאוֺל).

Ezekiel 32:18: Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, even her, and the daughters of the famous nations, unto the nether parts of the earth, with them that go down into the pit.

When the rich man and Lazarus passed away, Lazarus was carried by angels of God to Abraham's bosom and the rich man was buried and his soul was carried by the fallen angels that went with them down into the pit. Going down to the pit refers to being with them the fallen angels that go down into the pit carrying those who have sinned. (Lk 16:15,22) Jesus witnessed the falling of Satan from heaven (Lk 10:18) who was in Eden the garden of God (Eze 28:13), for he was the serpent of old and his angels were cast out with him (Rev 12:9).
