Which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? (Matthew 7:9,10)
Jesus says the Father knows how to give good things to those who ask him.

Are you asking and not receiving? Does not receiving make you think you must be asking wrongly?

How can you know if you're asking wrongly? Well does it matter? The Father knows how to give good things to those who ask him. If his son asks him for bread he won't give him a stone. And if he asks for a fish he won't give him a serpent.

What does this mean? It means 'Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus.' Philippians 4:6,7

In other words, relax and talk to God about all of your concerns.

Which of us by being anxious can add a single hour to our life span? Consider the flowers of the field, how they grow but doesn't work or spin a weaver's loom, and God takes care of them. Fear not, for it is the Father's good pleasure to give us the kingdom. Luke 12

One last thing: if a son asks God if his petitions are not to his liking would he not give him an answer? If you ask God for an explanation of why you feel you might have wrong motives when you pray, will he ignore you? Would you ignore your son? No?

Well If you being evil wouldn't ignore your son...
