My problem with angel figurines is that they are characterized in such an unbiblical way. If you read about angels in Scripture, they ALWAYS look like MEN. Most often we see artists portray angels as female. No wings are mentioned on the ones appearing to humans, either. Secondly, they appeared in such a way that the angel would have to say, "Don't be afraid," so they must have been awesome (tall? Huge? Fierce? We don't know). In revelation, John is so overcome by what an angel showed him that he fell down to worship him. The angel rebukes him immediately, and insists that he is just a servant of God. Statues, portraits of angels, Jesus, etc. Are hazardous because we humans are so prone to worship that which we see. God clearly forbids this. We are to worship Him alone.
