Great question God uses the second heaven (space as we know it) to communicate with His creation. By proclaiming prophesying things to happen, appear in our future time or when our technology stumbles across a truth that He stated long ago as in Job 26:7 God stretches the Northern sky over empty space and hangs the earth on nothing. Job 38:31 He moves the stars much like a child would move his legos where ever and when ever.
God tells His prophets first and moves with purpose in all He wants done so that there can be no doubt, that He is GOD.

Consider these signs to appear in the sky and in the heavens starting on Passover next year a series of four blood moons (sun-earth-moon).
1st. Total lunar eclipse of moon 4-15-14 feast of Pesach / passover
2nd. Total lunar eclipse of moon 10-8-14 feast of Sukkot / booths / taberacles.
On March 20 2015 total eclipse of the sun (sun-moon-earth)
3rd. Total lunar eclipse of the moon 4-4-15 feast of Pesach / passover.
4th. Total lunar eclipse of the moon 9-27-15 feast of Sukkot / booths / taberacles.

Nasa has said that after 2015 four blood moons will not happen for at least 500 years and in history only three times 1492, 1948, 1967.
History links these three with Israel and it's people, 1492 Jews expelled from Spain, 1948 Israel becomes a nation, 1967 Israel and temple mount united. 2015 Israel land / temple?

Consider that the fourth moon appears on a feast day in the Jewish year 5777 the last quarter of our calendar year 2015. Rosh Hashanah feast of trumpets (Jewish New Year) comes before Yon Kippur (day of atonement) and Sukkot (booths / taberacles). And this year 5775 Hanukah (lights) falls on the day of Thanksgiving, the earliest day/time in history.....warrior on.

As predicted in Joel 2:31, It would be inappropriate, In my opinion, to put the NASA findings or any other scientific postulates to prove or conclude the Sun turning dark and the Moon to red.

If we are interpreting and proving the darkness caused during Jesus' crucifixion was due to a solar eclipse and the star that led the three wise men was a meteoroid, we are basically trying to prove all that takes place
is due to a natural process with no super natural intervention!

If it is so, prove to me the raising of dead Lazarus, bringing back to life the widows dead son, cleansing of Leper, healing the blind, walking over the water, turning water into wine, multiplication of bread, Jesus himself rising from the death and descend of Holy Spirit on apostles and conversion of Paul to bear witness to Christ fearlessly. What was that process scientifically? I am sure, no one has any answer though some may try to prove it in vain!

We need to believe Lord's words that the Sun will really stop giving light turning dark and the Moon will turn to blood red with no explanations given. It could be anything in the future and we may not be present physically to witness this event. But our souls will surely witness this event if the atomic war takes place and every drop of earth evaporates into the space and the sky will be filled with the dark smoke of after events of atomic war. Or even if the Lava from under the Earth erupts into the sky and every living and non living thing in the world will melt and shoot up in the sky or if the sun itself fails to carry on its function and explodes with fiery fission into the dark holes at the center by the order of Supreme God at any time without being tied down by the mortal, insignificant, foolish human calculations!

We only see and interpret the working of this universe and its probabilities. But we have no control over them, We have no understanding why they are working so and for how long. For we are not their creators. We only presume and assume. It is better we leave it to the creator how and why will the Sun turn into dark and the moon to blood red. What we can do is turn away from our sins and live a holy life being faithful to God and to his message.

It will be certain to happen what is told by God. But when, how and why cannot be answered since they are God's works and God's works are not bound by human hands and minds!

NASA has quietly confirmed that there will be a lunar (four moons) and a solar (sun) eclipse. There is no "maybe" or "possible" about it. It happened 3 times already in 1492, 1948, 1967 and it will happen again in 2014 & 15.

These signs are God's way of signaling us to "Get Ready". Anytime between now and the "Second Coming" of Christ to be prepared for the Rapture of His Saints and afterwards the judgement of the rest of the world who have denied Him.

Good question keep studying and beware of satan's attempt's to cause you to NOT believe the Lord is coming.

This unnatural phenomenon is mentioned in Rev 6:12,13 together with two other significant events, the great earthquake and the falling of the stars. John's vision from the opening of the 6th seal, are events which have to be viewed as literal happenings. Parallels can be drawn between the 7 churches, 7 angels and 7 seals; they all refer to time periods in the timeline of the Christian church.

So if we look in history one can find the Great Earthquake, which shook Europe and North Africa, occurred on 1st Nov 1755. The most destruction happened in Portugal when 60% of Lisbon's inhabitants perished and the resulting tsunami destroyed the harbor and many buildings. Even parts of the nearby mountain range collapsed into the adjacent valleys.

On 19th May 1780, an eerie darkness occurred during daytime and lasted for almost the whole day over the greater part of North America. From the reports of eye witnesses, the degree of darkness was such that they could not read common print or tell the time on their clocks. Also the duration was so long that it cannot be ascribed to a solar eclipse but rather to an act of God. The fact that the Blood Red Moon, it was a full moon, appeared in the sky the following night confirms the impossibility of an eclipse.

Looking at the third phenomenon where "the stars fell from heaven" was an event which occurred on 13th Nov 1833 when a meteorite shower lasting the whole night illuminated the skies over North America like a constant display of fireworks. The unnatural part about this event is the fact that the "shooting stars" did not all fall in one direction as would be expected if meteorites enter earths atmosphere, but they fell in all directions, crossing each others' paths. So we can affirm the question asked with a "YES" because they have already happened.

In Rev 6:14 John describes seeing the "heavens depart as a scroll when it is rolled up". From here on we have to look to the future as this has not happened yet, but we know, as history proves, this prophecy will also come to pass.

From this we deduce that we are currently living in time which is between Rev 6:13 and 14. A good source of an expounded view and interpretation is a book, "The Prophecies of Daniel and the Revelation" by Uriah Smith.

God Bless
