Why did God make man the head over woman if the two were created to be one flesh?

Genesis 2:8

ESV - 8 And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Adam, Man, was created first. In Genesis 2:20-21 Man named all the creatures and was given dominion over the earth. God saw that Man had no suitable "helper," so God put man to sleep, removed a rib of Man to make the woman.

Also, as a result of the woman eating the apple, Genesis 3:16b states, "God said to the woman,........Your desire will be for your husband, and he shall rule over you."

Additionally, in a secular sense, when two people come together in biz, or partnership, things run smoother if only one is the leader....God knew this.

"Created to be one flesh." Eve was created for Adam. Men and women were not / are not created to be one flesh. Men and women were created for whatever purpose God had for them. Created to bring and show the glory of the Almighty.

Husband and wife become one flesh when they are joined in marriage. The man is given the responsibility to love and care for his wife. That makes him the leader (you call it the head). Every institution needs a leader. God wants to establish the male as the leader of the family. But if he's not up to the challenge, God will work His purpose for the family through the female.

The woman is given the responsibility to love and care for her husband. (Same challenge) In antiquity, the field had to be plowed, seed planted, livestock cared for, etc. Common sense led the man and woman to designate the duties of caring for the home according to their strengths.

The way we live has changed so drastically since the early days of our sojourn here, the lines are blurred; the discrimination that was once assumed to be the right way to live, has been exposed for the problems that it caused for the man and the woman. Like Dr King said, 'Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.'

There are still, and will probably always be people who think that women should be subject to men. (I said nothing about husband and wife).

My wife Faye isn't subject to me. We've been married 47 years and 7 months. We both know our strengths and weaknesses.
