Jesus made this comment during a discussion with some Jews who apparently did not grasp the distinction that Jesus was making between physical freedom and spiritual freedom.

In response to Jesus' claim that those who followed Him would know the truth, and that the truth would make His followers free, the Jews responded that they were already free, and had never been in bondage to anyone. (This claim, by itself, was already false even in regard to physical slavery, because they were, at that very moment, under Roman control -- not to mention prior examples of Jewish slavery, such as to the Egyptians, the Assyrians, the Babylonians, or the Medo-Persians.)

However, Jesus was referring to the more significant issue (from an eternal perspective) of the slavery of every human being to sin, from which Jesus was offering release from sin's consequences (eternal separation from God) through His proclamation of Himself as the Son of God and, ultimately, by faith in His atoning death and subsequent resurrection. That faith would result in receiving true and final freedom from sin, and eternal life in God's presence, which was immeasurably greater than any physical freedom in this temporal life or world.

In the dictionary, freedom is defined as the power or right to act, speak, or think without hindrance or restraint. It further describes it as liberation from slavery or from the power of another. That definition completely wraps up everything Christ has done for us. There is only one thing left for you to do: Live free.

Here’s what Paul says in Galatians 5:1: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

Enjoy your freedom today and go live the life Christ has freed you to live.

John 8:35-36: And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

There were many who followed Jesus and believed in Him and many who went astray and turned to their own ways. (John 6:66) The scribes and Pharisees who brought unto him a woman to be stoned to death were also convicted with their own conscience and went away. Lord spoke to the Jews who believed in Him if you continue in my Word then you are my disciples indeed and the truth shall set you free. (John 8:31:32) Lord Jesus being the Bread of Life and who eats this Bread (John 6:51) will always keep His Word and the Father will love him and will come unto him and make their abode with him, for then shall the Comforter the Holy Ghost shall come to reveal unto us and set us free. (John 14:23,26)

The Jew’s believed to be Abraham’s seed and they believed they were never in bondage to any man so why would they need to be made free? The Lord told them that though they may feel they are clean, they are the first ones to stone the woman, they walked away because they didn't want to abide in the house with the right spirit where the Lord reveals one through His Comforter to set them free. Lord Jesus the Son who abideth forever reveals unto one’s who are of a contrite and a humble spirit, for He revives the spirit of the humble and revives the heart of the contrite spirit. For the Lord does not contend with you forever neither will He always be angry, especially to those who grow weak before Him for the souls which He has made. (Isa 57:15:16)

The servant that abideth not forever who grows weak and comes before Him shall be saved for the Lord abideth forever in the house. Lord Jesus being our Shepherd at the gate though we may go astray will always guide us through His Comforter for He abideth in us forever. Lord Jesus makes even today intercession for every transgression that we make until we are brought safely home. (Isa 53:12) For we are His temple of the living God as God hath said I will dwell in them and walk in them, and I will be their God and they shall be my people. (2 Corinth 6:16) Today if ye will hear his voice harden not your hearts for you may go astray and not enter His rest.

Hebrews 3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and rejoicing of the hope unto the end.
