What does the Bible say about helping a spouse--or anyone, for that matter--who is sick to trust in God for healing?

Matthew 10:8

ESV - 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay.

Job 8:8,9 "For inquire, please of the former age, And consider the things discovered by their fathers; For we were notn yesterday, and know nothing, Because our days on earth are a shadow."

Consider, before earth even had a frame, God was there. He is the always present, I Am.

Psalm 37:3, "Trust in the Lord and do good, Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness..."

He will never leave you or forsake you. Cast everything on Him. Proverbs 3:5, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding."

Psalm 71:1, "In you Lord I put my trust, Let me never be put to shame. (2) Deliver me in Your righteousness,..." Jesus died for you, trust His judgement to know what is best for you.

Whatever your care, your illness, your heartache, your loneliness, He will honor your trust.

Jeremiah 39:18, "For I will surely deliver you...your life shall be as a prize to you, because you have put your trust in Me, says the Lord.'"

Nahum 1:7, "The Lord is good A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.

The Books of Job, and Jonah come to mind. In Job the problem of suffering is discussed. Jobs friends, cast God mostly in the wrong light. Jonah, refused God and ended having the best result from the shortest statement ever made on God's behalf.

The best thing to do for anyone is to pray for them. Prayer is powerful medicine!

Matthew 9:22.. the woman with the hemorrhage, Jesus turned and said, "Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well."

But remember God is SOVEREIGN..It is all up to Him. But rest assured He will only do what is best!

Psalm 42:11, "Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God."

2 Corinthians 12:7-9, "And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of revelations,a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger from Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, 'My Grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

The Bible tells us that sometimes illness is a blessing that brings us to God.

It is very common to hear people being told that they must trust God for healing (or any other thing that the person wants or needs). And the implication is that if they really put their trust in God then he will surely heal them. But the Bible never tells us that. The Bible does not say that if we believe that God will heal us then he will heal us. It doesn't work like that.

The truth of the matter is that many Christians are not healed. Some suffer from incurable illnesses, some even die from a terminal illness. And this does not mean that they didn't have enough faith in God, nor does it mean that they didn't believe in healing hard enough.

So if you are not well and God does not seem to be bringing healing, it is not your fault that you are not being healed, and it is not because you don't have enough faith either. God brings healing or not according to his own mysterious purposes that we don't understand. But what we can be sure of is that God loves us and will be with us whatever we have to go through. And so we trust in God, not because he brings healing to us, but because he is God and we will trust him whether he brings healing or not. Our faith is not in believing in healing but in the person who can heal and we trust him to do the right thing whatever that turns out to be. John 12:24-25
Regards
Phil
