What is this coming wrath? (1 Thessalonians 1:10)

7 And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. 8 The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia—your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it, 9 for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

1 Thessalonians 1:10

ESV - 10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.

I would say that the "coming wrath" to which Paul was referring will be the final judgment and eternal punishment of sin that will occur at the close of the present age, but from which Christians will be spared because of the forgiveness of sin and eternal life that they have received through faith in Christ's atoning death and resurrection.

Thessalonians 1:10: And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

The “Coming Wrath” refers to the perilous times that are to come, when the judgment will begin in the house of God for every child that obeys not the gospel of God the Father. (1Pet 4:17) During this time, there will be men lovers of themselves as covetous boasters’ proud, blasphemers, disobedient, unthankful, and unholy. They will not be able to endure sound doctrine but after their own lusts, they shall heap to themselves teachers having itching ears. (2 Tim 3:1-2/4:3) The Lord shall then come with wrath and fierce anger to lay the land and sinners desolate and destroyed. (Isa 13:9)

After the coming of our Lord Jesus, every child of God the Father who was once delivered from their forefathers who worshiped idols, today worships the true God. It is important for every child to “Watch and Pray, that they enter not into temptation, for the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.” (Mat 26:41) We are right at the beginning of the greatest period of trials and testing that will come upon mankind, and we must have something to sustain us - the “Spirit of the God” in us - if we are to endure it. Jesus said to His disciples that love will wax cold for lawlessness shall prosper, but "he that endures to the end, the same shall be saved." (Mat 24:12-13)

Lord Jesus will always be with us until the end of the world. (Mat 28:20) Every child shall go through trials and tribulation from the wrath that will come during the end times. The Lord is not slack concerning His promises that anyone should perish but all that shall come to repentance through Him. (2 Pet 3:9) For every child who shall rend their heart and not their garments and turn unto the Lord our God, He then shall be gracious merciful slow to anger and of great kindness, for He then shall repenteth Him, of the wrath to come upon you. (Joel 2:13)

Joel 1:15: Alas for the day! For the day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.
