In his lecture in Athens, Paul mentions "the object of your worship." (Acts 17:23) What are some of the objects of worship for people in our culture?

23 For as I passed along, and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription, To an Unknown God. What therefore ye worship in ignorance, this I set forth unto you.

Acts 17:23

ESV - 23 For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription, 'To the unknown god.' What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.

Some of the things worshiped in today's culture are completey harmless to us, but the Lord our God desires to be the only one worshiped. Our own families sometimes become the very thing that consumes us and becomes the center of our world and object of worship, Kids and wifes. Spending countless of thousands of dollars to please the ones we love with worthless gifts to make them pleased with us, isn't that worship?. MONEY, we spend most of our time at work to aquire money, to hoard up in savings accounts, and IRA,s, hoping that our money will make more money so we can have more money. TECHNOLOGY, we spend thousands on tablets and phones, tv' and Pc's to give then our full time and attention, memorized by all they can show us and do for us, sometimes shutting out the very gifts given to us by God as we consume ourselvs with these things.
