How can someone witness to someone who has experienced a great hardship?

People who do not truly understand God sometimes may pray for some situation. Then, If the prayer is not answered, they sometimes believe that either God doesn’t answer prayer or that God doesn’t exist. For example, one who lost a child who was very young. One whose spouse divorced them. One whose loved one was murdered.

Some people see all the tragedies that occurred in the world (wars, natural disasters, murders, people starving to death, people getting away with crimes, etc.) and then doubt whether or not God exists. How can we witness to people who doubt God exists or that God doesn’t answer prayer?
