Can God’s voice be heard? (John 5:37)

Jesus declared to the Jews, “You have neither heard His [God’s] voice at any time, nor seen His form.” Yet the voice of God was heard many times in the OT (cf. 1 Sam. 3:4-14), and the Father spoke from heaven three times during Jesus’ earthly ministry (Matt. 3:17; 17:5; John 12:28).

John 5:30 - 47

ESV - 30 I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me. 31 If I alone bear witness about myself, my testimony is not deemed true.

John 10:14-16: "I am the Good shepherd; and I know my sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd."

Genesis 1:1: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

John 1:1:, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God."

Colossians 1:15-17: "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him ALL things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist."

John 1:18: "No one has seen God at an time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him." Jesus is the divine essence of God. God was veiled in angelic form and incarnate in Jesus Christ and has been seen of men.

John 14:8-11: "Philip said to Him, 'Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.'

Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, show us the Father? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.'"

See Jesus, see God. Hear Jesus, hear God.

John 12:28: "Father glorify Your name. Then a voice came from heaven, saying, 'I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.’”

John 12:29: "Therefore the people who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said 'An angel has spoken to Him.'”

God/Jesus speaks through the Holy Bible. Are we listening? He sometimes thunders for our attention.
