Did Satan exist before or after Jesus?

John 8:44

ESV - 44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

First of who is Jesus? Jesus is the Son with flesh. So, the Son coexisted with the Father and the Holy Spirit in the beginning of creation. According to the ancient Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church doctrine, in Genesis God refers to himself as plural in the creation of the creatures and in other places. Jesus, who was the Son, existed before the devil, and he is the one who created him.

If you are a Christian, you clearly believe that Jesus is God and he referred to himself as the “I AM” title given to Abraham when he asked God's name. So don't think that Jesus was not the Creator of creations, King of kings and Ruler of rulers.

Jesus, who is the Creator of all things, existed before the devil. Genesis 1:1; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:16-18 and Hebrews 1:1-2

May I encourage you to read Ezekiel 28, which speaks about the judgment against the prince of Tyrus! This passage of Scripture gives us revelation about Lucifer, the anointed cherub, also known as Satan, the devil. Also, Isaiah 14: 1-20.

Satan is a being called a 'seraph,' (Hebrew: 'fiery serpent'), which is an immortal being created by GOD to express significant elements of GOD's attributes, wisdom and power.

They are living 'persons,' fully sentient, highly intelligent and very powerful. They were created before the 'cherubim,' (i.e.'cherubs'), which are less powerful but also immortal, sentient and highly intelligent, but resemble a combination of an 'ox, a man, a lion and an eagle,' (from human descriptions), instead of appearing similar to a 'fiery serpent.'

When Jesus says that Satan was a 'murderer from the beginning,' He isn't referring to the beginning of all things. He is referring to the 'beginning of the present age,' which is what is being described in the first chapter of Genesis.

Even though humans tend to be very full of themselves, there have been many 'ages' before ours and GOD has not even informed us about any of them except the one immediately preceding our current age and some early descriptions of the soon arriving age.

Scripture seems to even strongly indicate that life forms passing between ages can barely imagine how different things will be, (1 Corinthians 2:9), since even the basic 'rules' seem to change. The only absolutely consistent thing about them is GOD Himself, who never changes from age to age.

If it seems that 'seraphs' and 'cherubs' are somehow barely relatable or creepy inhuman monsters, stop for a moment and consider that we are currently conversing on a 'world wide web' literally constructed from fine threads being 'energized' to send information across a 'network' that is even being measured in 'bytes.'

What does that sound like to you?

A 'spider,' right?

Are you creeped out by this?

No.

It is even comfortable and familiar now.

As strange at it may seem, I believe that GOD created His own far superior version of 'computers' and 'high technology' long ages before humans were even around. It makes sense to me that GOD took it WAY farther and not only created 'artificial intelligence' but kept going until each of these 'super intelligent systems' were real 'natural persons' again, integrating them fully back into nature itself.

That's what an 'angel' actually is.

That's why they are 'immortal,' but that doesn't make them any less 'real' or 'alive.' The same is true for Satan.

So GOD gave us the description of the 'earliest' version of these 'super intelligences' as 'fiery serpents' because their version of the same technology behaves more like a serpent, (which you should also remember originally had 'legs' before GOD cursed them to slither on their bellies).

This also explains the 'dinosaurs,' which appear to be primitive expressions of this same early 'high tech' stuff. They were the 'animals' that resembled the super intelligent system behind them. Obviously, things didn't go well and GOD had to stop whatever Satan was doing.

The weird thing is that we are using the bones and other remnants of these creatures to fuel our own human 'high tech' (we just call them 'fossil fuels' now).

As we try to imagine GOD's 'highest technology' it seems appropriate to remember that we can start with our own, since even evil humans were 'made in GOD's direct likeness.'

So if you wish to imagine 'archangels,' (both 'good' and 'evil'), you can glimpse it by imagining it like our 'Internet' only fully alive, sentient and 'natural,' operating with 'fire' (a reference to what we call 'electricity'), but an 'enormous' system rather than one like 'spiders,' with the 'smaller' system inside it having four different 'interfaces.'

I believe that these are just 'viewpoints' since the 'ox' sees only in front of him, the 'man' guides him, the 'lion' travels and sees his domain in circles, and the 'eagle' soars above like our satellites only far superior.

Cool, huh?

"Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on the earth." (Colossians 3:2)
