The actual verse is Isaiah 44:5. What this verse is projecting is that they will say that they will serve the Lord, they are His. That they will as Jacob did to the God of Jacob, and that they shall use their hands to work for the Lord. All of the statements in verse 5 are a sincere commitment of faith in the Lord.

I agree with Phil Bloom that it should be Isaiah 44:5. The phrase about writing God’s name on their hands symbolizes ownership, devotion, and commitment to God. In ancient times, slaves often bore a mark or inscription of their master's name, showing to whom they belonged. Here, the imagery is powerful—people are willingly marking themselves as belonging to the Lord, expressing loyalty and dedication to Him.

This also contrasts with pagan practices where people might mark themselves for false gods. Instead, these individuals proudly declare, "I am the Lord’s." It’s an act of love and allegiance, demonstrating the transformation and revival God brings.

See the Quest Study Bible for more on this.

In a world that constantly tries to define us by achievements, failures, or social status, we must intentionally declare, "I am the Lord’s." Just as believers in Isaiah’s time identified with God, we, as Christians, are called to publicly and boldly claim our identity in Christ (Romans 1:16).

When we belong to God, we are no longer our own—we are His (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). This means surrendering our lives, desires, and future to Him. Writing God’s name on our hands is symbolic of our voluntary submission to Him, much like a servant would bear a master’s mark.

Just as people wear wedding rings to remind them of their covenant with their spouse, having God’s name “written” on our hands reminds us of our commitment to Him. Even though we may not physically write His name, we carry His mark in our actions, speech, and choices.
