Seven is a number symbolic of the covenant, i.e. Sabbath. The descriptions of the four creatures (lion, ox, eagle, man), eyes everywhere with six wings, are consistent with the descriptions of a cherubim. The fact that there are four creatures may represent the four gospels. The lamb is Christ. No other is called lamb but Christ in the books written by John.
