A little more information would be helpful, without going into the privacy of the married couple or the parents. On the surface, I would say no, it is not right. The Bible is full of scriptures in support of the husband-wife-others relationships. Bottom line, love the Lord your God and loving your wife, children, and extended families, friends, co-workers and others, will follow. His love, lovingly expressed, conquers all.

Check these out (I normally don't post scripture but I am led to do so in this case).

Ephesians 5:33 - Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife [see] that she reverence [her] husband.

Ephesians 5:25 - Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.

1 Peter 3:7 - Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with [them] according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

Ephesians 4:32 - And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Ephesians 5:1-33 - Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children.

Colossians 3:18 - Wives, submit yourselves unto your OWN husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

Colossians 3:19 - Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

Genesis 2:18 - And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Genesis 2:24 - Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

1 Peter 3:5 - For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their OWN husbands.

1 Timothy 5:8 - But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

Philippians 2:5-8 - Let this Spirit be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 19:5 - And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh.

1 Peter 3:1 - Likewise, ye wives, [be] in subjection to your OWN husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives.

1 Peter 2:13 - Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake.

James 4:7 - Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Titus 2:5 - [To be] discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their OWN husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

2 Timothy 1:7 - For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Colossians 3:21 - Fathers, provoke not your children [to anger], lest they be discouraged.

Ephesians 6:4 - And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Ephesians 5:28-32 - So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

Ephesians 5:21-33 - Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Galatians 6:10 - As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Galatians 5:22-23 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith.

1 Corinthians 11:1-34 - Be ye followers of me, even as I also [am] of Christ.

Romans 13:1-14 - Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

Deuteronomy 25:11-12 - When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him.

Genesis 2:18-25 - And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an helper.

It is not right for the husband to stop loving his wife for ANY reason at all!

Let me remind the husband of his wedding vows. He made this promise to his wife-to-be on their wedding day..

"I take you to be my wife. I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you ALL THE DAYS of my life."

As human beings, this is a hard commitment, and for this reason we ask God to make the marriage stronger.

The priest will then say aloud "You have declared your consent before the Church. May the Lord in his goodness strengthen your consent and fill you both with his blessings. What God has joined, men must not divide. Amen."
