How is God affected by the sins committed by us?

In this verse God says the people were sinning against him. What happens to God, how is he affected, when we sin?

Exodus 23:33

KJV - 33 They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee.

God grieved and He got angry in the "Old Testament." He gave serious warnings and administered severe punishment, even among His Chosen People, the Jews.

Today we live in the Christian Covenant, that Covenant provided and explained by Jesus to the Apostle Paul in and after Acts 9. It is because of God’s unswerving love that he is grieved when we sin, defying and ignoring His offer of eternal life, It is not His Will that any of us should perish (2 Peter 3:8-10).

Paul wrote to the Ephesians “Grieve not the Holy Spirit whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption,” (Ephesians 4:30). God desires that we embrace and enjoy love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Galatians 5.22-23).
