Why were men worth more than women in Leviticus 27:3-8?
Men are not essentially or inherently worth more than women as one might think from the passage. Function in accord with one’s ability and experience is different from one’s intrinsic value as created in the image and likeness of the Creator. This valuation was based on the amount of work that could be expected… Middle-aged workers could be most productive; men could handle the heavier work, i.e. more than the women could.
