Why does it say that Satan will be tormented in the lake of fire forever, then it says that he will be released on earth again?

Revelation 20:7 - 10

ESV - 7 And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison 8 And will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea.

You have actually read these passages backwards. The first thing that takes place is Rev 20:2-3 (KJV) (2)And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
(3)And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

After Satan is loosed for a season then his fate will be sealed which is Rev 20:10 (KJV) And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
