How was the Potter's Field purchased and who bought it?
6The chief priests picked up the coins and said, “It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.” 7So they decided to use the money to buy the potter’s field as a burial place for foreigners. 8That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day. 9Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price set on him by the people of Israel, 10and they used them to buy the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.”

The chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, "It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood." Mt 7:5 Putting blood money into the treasury was unlawful, but shedding that same betrayed and innocent blood was lawful in the sight of these hypocrites. And the chief priests took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. The chief priests took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value. The Old Testament prophecy fulfilled in Matthew. 27:9-10; Zech. 11:12-13).
