Can we interpret and apply Old Testament prophecy to our times?

Ezekiel 38:1 - 23

ESV - 1 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 Son of man, set your face toward Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him

Creative question, Carol! "So I will show my greatness and my holiness and make myself known in the eyes of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD."
Ezekiel 38:23 - ESV

God will be faithful as He always is in fulfilling ALL His promises!

The Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament (a book I cherish) --TWOT's "definition" for Gog is somewhat interpretative...

Gog is the ruler of the land of Magog and prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal (Ezek 38 and 39). Gog is also the name of a Reubenite in 1Chr 5:4....Ezekiel envisions this prince as the leader of a vast horde of armed troops that includes people from Persia, Cush, Put, Gomer, and Beth-togarmah. They will march against Israel at a time when the people of God have returned to their land and live in peace completely undefended. But this will all be allowed by the Lord that he might display his holiness among them. The people of God will not have to fight, for God himself will destroy the armies of Gog (Ezek 38:19-23).
