If we are under the dispensation of Grace, why is it not okay to sin?

Jesus did not come to dispose of the law but rather to fulfill it. The law is still in full effect and sin, all sin, is still under the penalty of death. However, God's mercy and grace allow us to repent of our sins, confess them to Jesus and find forgiveness. We are called on to work toward becoming more Christlike by turning away from our sin and allowing the Holy spirit to "write God's laws in our hearts." The more we push sin out of our lives and embrace the spirit the more we will find that we are capable of fulfilling God's purpose. We weren't put here to sin and do what is right in our own eyes but to serve a purpose. Sin separates us from God and the more we sin the further WE go from him. Sin gives temporary pleasure but it costs far more in the end than it is worth. Many things that God calls sinful can actually lead to physical, mental, and emotional harm to yourself or to those around us.

I do struggle with a particular sin and confess daily or when appropriate for forgiveness. I believe all things work together for my good according to his purpose. I'm thankful for 1 John 1:9 because I agree with what God has said about my sin and have not tried to justify it calling Our God a liar. It has kept my faith hopeful and secure in Him who died for me.
