Why is a poem about romance and sex in the Bible? (Song of Solomon 1:2)

Song of Solomon 1-4 English Standard Version (ESV)
1 The Song of Songs, which is Solomon's.

The Bride Confesses Her Love
She[a]
2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth!
For your love is better than wine;
3     your anointing oils are fragrant;
your name is oil poured out;
    therefore virgins love you.
4 Draw me after you; let us run.
    The king has brought me into his chambers.

Song of Solomon is an analogy for the love that God has for His people. As Christians; as the church, the Bride of Christ we are reminded of the great love of our Lord and Savior.

"The love that God has for His people." Is that what really comes to mind when we read this passionate poem? I don't believe that to be the point of God giving us this to ponder and study.
I believe there to be people who think this being in the bible is similar to the parable of the weeds. The bible is the field. A man sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat (Mt 13:24,25).
This poem is seen as the work of an enemy, that it has no place among the "Holy Scriptures."

God put this here for a good reason. We don't need any help being passionate, vulgar, or any of that. And there are much less controversial ways to illustrate for us "God's love for His people." If that's the impetus for this passionate story why use this method that was a sure thing for creating dispute? Unless maybe, dispute over the business of sex was the objective.
That's what it looks like to me. Only, believers are too busy trying to present themselves as being above such matters, to give real discussion of what sex is all about. Most of the restrictions on sex that are commonly thought to be biblical can't be read from the bible.
