How can a young Christian handle the threats of divorce in a marriage that was started on faulty ground?

Malachi 2:16

NKJV - 16 "For the LORD God of Israel says That He hates divorce, For it covers one's garment with violence," Says the LORD of hosts. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, That you do not deal treacherously."

Jesus commands us not to divorce our spouse for any reason, except for sexual immorality (Matthew 5:32).

We are to remain in a marriage with an unbelieving spouse because our witness for Christ may bring our spouse to faith.

However, if we are suffering abuse from our spouse, we are permitted to separate for our own protection but we must not divorce.

If our unbelieving spouse insists on a divorce, after all our efforts to try and make the marriage work, then we should agree to it and let our spouse go. God wants us to live in peace.

The apostle Paul gives us some instructions about this situation in 2 Corinthians 7:10-17.
