Is it acceptable to God for an adult child to admit a parent to a personal care or nursing home?

God tells us to care for our parents in their old age, just as they cared for us when we were young. When a parent becomes feeble and unable to live alone in their home, what options are acceptable to God? Are we required to leave our home to live with the parent and provide 24/7 care? Are we required to move the parent into our own home in order to provide 24/7 care? Is admitting the parent to a nursing care facility a violation of God's directive to care for our parents?

I truly believe and feel that one should care for their parents in their old age. I feel that we should care for them as they cared for us when we were growing up. I also feel that if one does not take care of their elderly parents or parent when and if in need that it is very selfish on their part. So many people just drop off their parent and some tell them to their face that if something ever happened to them, that they would not take care of them. I think that is so-o-o bad. They think they would be a burden...well not for me. I would take care of my mom to the very end.

I have an older sister that has told my mom that she would never take care of her since she would be a burden. Well, thank god, my mom lives with me because I will take care of her forever! I don't understand how a sibling could feel that way and especially say that to their own mother.
